BOURBON BARREL AGING: CRAFTING THE PERFECT SPEYSIDE SPIRIT

We tasted our way through various vessels and settled on a punchy 8 year and 6-month-old whisky. It was matured full term in a refill bourbon barrel. And, because we never do anything in halves, we wanted to add more depth and fun to the whisky. So, when a mighty first fill bourbon barrel crossed our desks, we decided to re-rack the whisky on November 22, 2023. This 9-month finish transformed a fantastic whisky into an absolute gem.

TASTING PROFILE: SUMMER FRESHNESS IN EVERY POUR

The nose is remarkably fresh, conjuring images of colorful boiled lollies, succulent nashi pears, and delicate orange blossoms that transport you to a springtime orchard. On the palate, it presents a crisp character with soft pepper notes that tickle rather than overwhelm, complemented by refreshing vanilla soda and nostalgic Fruit Tingles that fizz with playful sweetness.

The finish is medium in length with comforting notes of white fudge and butter nut that transition to a drying conclusion, leaving you eager for another sip. Because FOMO is real!

CASK STRENGTH: UNFILTERED WHISKY EXCELLENCE

We make no apologies for our robust, raw cask strength whiskies. For this Speyside delight, we used a simple 25-micron bag to catch any char or sediment before it enters the bottle. It’s ‘Whisky with Integrity’ – Straight from the Cask, nurtured and curate for you, the seasoned whisky enthusiast.

THE SPEYSIDE DISTILLERY HERITAGE: FROM SCREEN TO BOTTLE

FUN FACT: The owners transformed The Speyside Distillery into the fictional Lagganmore distillery. It served as a film set for BBC Scotland’s television drama “Monarch of the Glen.” The last series regularly attracted 8.5m UK viewers. It sold to 24 countries worldwide, including the USA, Canada, and Australia. This created an invaluable shop window for the Scotch whisky industry.
